Andy's Art Attack A very nicely presented collection of original web art as the front end to a commercial graphics service provider worth investigating. You'll find categories: Animations, Arrows, Backgrounds, Bullets, Buttons, Letters and Lines. Reviewed 7/5/97

Background Deli A smorgasbord of background files in categories: Appetizers, Chef's Choice, Chef's Revenge, Chef's Revenge II, Classic Favorites, Exitic Dishes, House Salads, Placemat, Salad Dressings, Soup of the Day and Special Sweets. You'll find textures, starfields, patterns, wood, paper and more. Reviewed 7/5/97

Background Playground A site that lets you build a look on the fly. There are few backgrounds available but playing with the widgets was fun. Reviewed 2/23/97

The Background Sampler - Netscape The tried and the true from Netscape. You've seen these backgrounds everywhere. There's some tutorial information here, too, on how to set backgrounds in HTML. Reviewed 1/23/96

Backgrounds by Ace of Space A large collection of original background and texture files. Most are abstract, multicolored morphs and fractals, some are in brilliant shades, many are muted. You're bound to find something you like here. Reviewed 2/25/97

Backgrounds - Dan Olsson A small but impressive and interesting collection of background images with a utility that lets you see just how they'll look on your pages. Reviewed 2/23/97

BaySide.Net A terrific site. There's lots of stuff here besides graphics. But you'll find plenty of animated gifs, backgrounds, bars and buttons. Reviewed 7/6/97

Celine's Original .GIFs "Welcome to my .GIF Shop. Come on in, peruse the backgrounds, arrows, bullets, etc. If you like them, you can download them directly to your computer! No charge! No strings attached! No hidden sales tax, shipping and handling charge, no copyrights! How can I afford to do this you ask? VOLUME!!!!!" This is interesting and fun stuff. The Design Shop Backgrounds Noreen Strehlow This site is outstanding. You'll find high quality original clipart and backgrounds. Clipart categories include: Arrows, Lines and Bullets. Background and texture files are white and black based. Reviewed 2/25/97

The Desktop Wallpaper Store Designed mostly for windows but you might find something you like for your pages. Reviewed 7/6/97

Dr. Zeus' Textures "These are textures, also known as tiles, patterns or backgrounds. I made them out of some of my photographs using Avernus' Texture srcoller and judicious use of Adobe Photoshop's smudge tool. These images are half the size of the actual textures. I've included links to pages using the texture as a background and which include the original photos in case you're interested." This site offers some of the most original and interesting background images I've seen on the Web. Reviewed 1/14/96

Eric's Hot Icons - Eric Barnes A fair-sized collection of interesting images and icons in categories: Bars, Backgrounds and Symbols. The page is creatively presented. Many of the images presented came from this archive. Reviewed 4/15/96

Festive Backgrounds by Wizzle A mid-sized collections of original background files. Many of these are very whimsical. Reviewed 2/23/97

Free Webpage Designs Lots and lots of background files in various color schemes and materials. Also frames, bars, banners and graphics on fishing themes. Reviewed 7/5/97

The Graphic Hut This is a delightful site but it's very graphics intense and slow to load. I think you'll find it worth the wait. You'll find backgrounds, buttons, bars and icons and more. Reviewed 7/6/97

Free Web Graphics A great site full of original and neat stuff in categories: Animated GIFs, Backgrounds, Bullets, Buttons, Dividers, Icons and Misc. Navigation is a bit rough because of some overwrought code but you'll get there. Reviewed 7/5/97

H's Seamless Backgrounds A small collection of unusual patterned backgrounds and textures. There's a pinch of political humor in some of them, too. Reviewed 2/25/97

Heather Champ's Seamless Background Tiles An interesting collection of original, largely grayscale, background images. Reviewed 1/15/96

Infinite Fish Seamless Textures This is a very stylish site but makes a lot of use of Java scripts your browser may not support. That said, you'll find some very original background files here. Most are hazy cloud images and abstract morphs. Reviewed 2/25/97

Innographx Background Images A very stylishly presented portfolio of free original background images from Innographx, a purveyor of graphics services. If you need an unusual background this is a must see. The site also has links to graphics services and graphics how-tos. Reviewed 10/2/96

Judibug's Doodlings A wonderful collection of original clipart and background and texture files. You'll find categories: Red Backgrounds, Green Backgrounds, Blue Backgrounds, Purple Backgrounds, Pink Backgrounds, Yellow Backgrounds, Black Backgrounds and Holiday Borders. You'll also find matched sets of clipart, incidental page art, backgrounds and borders in floral motifs. Reviewed 3/19/96

Julianne Tolson's Color Background Textures A wonderful collection of original background and texture images. Also has a guided tour of the backgrounds if your browser can take it. Reviewed 1/16/96

Kaol's Quicksand Pages A collection of collected and some original images in categories: animated, backgrounds, bars, bullets, icons, gifs and icons/buttons. Each of these contain images on themes: Aquatic: Images displaying marine and freshwater fishes, fishing themes. Birds: Our feathered dinosaurs descendents. Dogs/Cats: Man's best freinds. Fantasy: Dinosaurs, unicorns, and everything else that only lives in our minds Insects: More creepy crawlies than "Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom". MacDaddy's Background Sampler A large collection of background images and tiles for your WWW pages in categories: Blue backgrounds Purple Backgrounds, Red Backgrounds, Green Backgrounds, Black or Gray Backgrounds, Multicolored Backgrounds, Theme backgrounds and Other Backgrounds. The site also has tutorials on setting backgrounds. Reviewed 12/13/96

Music-Related Graphic Images "This site is full of music-related images for backgrounds, rulers and lines, buttons and icons and more, and includes music staffs, music notes, numerous instruments, musicians, conductors and much more." Paul's Background Textures - Paul Wallace "Welcome to my collection of seamless background images. This collection started as soon as Netscape 1.1 beta came out. Then it was possible to use an image as the background of your page instead of just that old gray window color - this was even before the BGCOLOR tag. Anyway, one evening I put together most of these backgrounds in Photoshop with a number of different filters, and they have been here ever since." A founding collection. Rainbow Graphics Design A bunch of original and interesting alphabets for download. You can change the background color for viewing. A good collection of background images is here, too. A bit slow to load but worth the wait. Reviewed 7/5/97

A good site to visit, especially if you're after some good background files. Reviewed 2/8/96

SAM Pattern Sampler - Stuart Moulthrop A very large collection of background and texture files in categories: DESIGNS | MATERIALS | WORD GAMES | ANIMATED. The animated backgrounds and the discussion of how to animate backgrounds are particularly interesting. Your browser may not thank you much. Internet Explorer couldn't handle the animated backgrounds at all. Reviewed 2/25/97

Sarasoft Textureland A brilliant collection of background and texture files in categories: Brushed, Colorful, Fabrics, Fall, Flowers, Frost, Leather, Leaves, Marble, Misc, Paint, Paper, Patterns, Photo, Stone, Textile, Water and Waves. A must see. Reviewed 2/23/97

Sausage Software A commercial site with some good archives of textures and sausage buttons! Reviewed 3/1/97

Shock Zone "This page is dedicated to WWW Graphics. I have created many bullets, bars, lines, and buttons for you to use freely in your web pages. You have also have seen these graphics included on CD's with many of today's popular Web Development Books." You've seen this stuff everywhere. Now you have the source. Check it out. Studio 5 Digital Media - John Froberg A very interesting and distinctive graphics and internet services site. You'll find links to complementing sites, free 3D icons and free backgrounds at the bottom of the page. Be prepared for a well-worth-it wait - the site is graphics intensive and has animated icons. Texture World - Tudor Watson "Texture World is a collection of varied background textures that can be used to make web pages more attractive, each texture has been optimized to reduce the time taken to download the image." This is a tiny collection of free sample background and texture images provided by Tangent Web Design as an introduction to their commercial graphics design services. Tweeter's Design World You'll find categories: Animations, Art, Backgrounds and Bars. Most are still "under construction." The backgrounds are fairly fleshed out and you'll find some good ones. Reviewed 7/5/97

Vijay's Icon Collection A fair-sized collection of icons and background images arranged by the name of the image and without graphics "...to make loading fast...just click and find what you want..." The site is slow even without the graphics and finding the right file is tiresome without the graphics but there is good stuff here. Reviewed 2/28/96
